• Dock Operations Manager

  • EQ Office is looking to bring on a self-starting, people-oriented and experienced dock manager to operate dock operations for a retail and office environment. As the Dock Operations Manager your main focus will be to ensure productivity, efficiency, security procedural control and interaction with various building tenants as well as construction teams. In this strategic role, it is important that the Dock Operations Manager maintain effective communications with site leadership and customers, to ensure proper sensitivity to the needs of facility operations. Included in these responsibilities are managing the overall support functions essential to insure internal customer satisfaction while maintaining a safe and secure environment.

    As the Dock Operations Manager, one is held accountable to, however not limited to, the following job functions:

    • Manage and direct dock operations and personnel for a 24 by 7 operation.  
    • Perform shift inspections to ensure operational consistency.
    • Perform operational analyses and make recommendations to ensure efficient operations.
    • Lead, train and develop dock associates to set up and enable inbound and outbound operations that provide unparalleled customer service to our internal/external customers.
    • Ensure dock operation is clean, safe, secure and efficient.
    • Work with the construction team to schedule inbound materials, as well as control access to delivery locations.
    • Collect, analyze and present statistical technical data as requested by senior leadership/internal customers.
    • Participating/lead training for various areas of emergency incident procedures.
    • Ensure that all operational procedures are followed on a daily basis and take complete ownership of these procedures.
    • Direct the functions and personnel of a shift or function to achieve desired results per the operations plan.
    • Participate in the annual budget process to assure all expenses are covered and justified.
    • Work directly with several contract agencies that supply receiving dock support. This may include interviewing applicants, recommending hiring and disciplinary procedure, approve time sheets and scheduling.  
    • Maintain records for forklift training, maintenance and daily checklist as per OSHA regulations.
    • Facilitate OSHA approved forklift training for all receiving dock associates.
    • Facilitate monthly training with security personal in accordance to EQ guidelines and policies.

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Minimum 3-7 years’ experience in dock management
    • Experienced with Dock Management Systems
    • Experienced with dock security systems
    • Bachelor's degree in related field preferred or related experience
    • Strong business focus and demonstrate an ability to act in partnership with management team
    • Experienced in motivating associates by using constructive criticism and positive reinforcement
    • Strong problem-solving skills
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word & Excel)
    • Able to work in a fast pace environment and maintain composure
    • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
    • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence and speak effectively
    • Ability to supervise various shifts for a consistent 24 by 7 operation
    • Able to lift 50 lbs. and stand for extended periods of time
